Founded in 2018, tara and i is a Mumbai-based prêt-à-porter label. From the very beginning, our brand has been all about bringing a certain romanticism and joie de vivre to life through elevated classics that transcend seasons. The pieces, handcrafted to be comfortable yet flattering, are characterised by high-quality fabrics and robust construction. While our styles celebrate natural proportions, with subtleties of form and fit, they are infused with a hint of playfulness. A certain whimsy is palpable in every creation—woven into thoughtful detailing, distinctive prints, and a palette that exudes both character and composure.
At the heart of every collection is the contentment that comes from taking the time to do things well. While this philosophy drives our design process, we also recognise that fashion is a reflection of current times. Although timelessness lies at the core of all that we do, we play with trends in moderation—offering subtle nods to fashion cycles without ever being defined by them.
Above all, our garments carry an innate je ne sais quoi that makes you feel good, moving seamlessly from desk to dining al fresco in a matter of minutes.

“They say a child gives birth to a mother, and that’s what really happened. In the early phases of motherhood, I was constantly dreaming of the occasions that I would get to enjoy with my daughter and it was these visions that ultimately prompted me to launch my own line of luxury clothing that’s made, above all else, of timeless styles—ones that I can wear now and my adolescent daughter can enjoy in the future. For me, the brand is also a journey towards building a wardrobe with intention—one that starts in one place, then grows and evolves at every stage and age, and eventually becomes a metaphor of who we are,” – Reshma Dalal

2018
The brand launched at Pernia’s Pop-Up Shop, while our creative director, Reshma Dalal, honed her craft through short courses at London College of Fashion and Central Saint Martins.
2020
The COVID-19 pandemic prompted a reset. We streamlined operations, refined systems, and launched our website.
2021
The second wave of the pandemic brought new challenges, but we persevered. Inspired by her daughter’s ballet classes, Reshma created the much-loved collection Tutu.
2022
We expanded into retail, establishing both a physical and digital presence.
2023
A pivotal period that saw a significant shift in our visual language. Nocturne and Sorrento, some of our most iconic collections, came to life.
2024
A milestone moment as we made our debut at New York Fashion Week, marking our official foray into evening wear.
2025
Growth, adaptation, and evolution. As we expand into key luxury stores across India, the journey continues.
